Shamanism

A shaman is a person that "moves" between the spirit and physical worlds, who has gone through a period of transformation that has expanded their conscious awareness . They must be called to the role.This calling is usually filled with terrifying visions or visitations from spirits and this initiation can put the shaman through psycho spiritual crises and psychological distress as their ego dies. Coming back from this death the shaman heals themselves and shares the knowledge they have gained with their community. This has parallels with the Hero's journey and the crucifixion and resurrection of christ (consciousness) when he is reborn.
